A huge goal of mine for 2023 was to work as a freelance digital marketing specialist as a second stream of income. Not only was I able to accomplish this, but I did it in the most enviable fashion of all: gallivanting around Santorini with a lovely group of strong women.
In September of 2023, I was invited to attend The Love Reset retreat hosted by Nina Mandair in Santorini as the Social Media Manager. Nina and I have been working together since February and I've assisted in promoting this retreat, watching the progress from day dot. This retreat had been a long time coming, even more so for Nina herself.
Inspiration is incomparable when the stock videos you stared at for months on your phone are finally right outside of your window. On my first day, running through the villa, I was excited by all of the potential and felt reinvigorated as a creative marketer. Work feels less like work in the heart of a top travel destination.
During the retreat, it was necessary that I partook in all of the activities if slightly adapted to better suit for shooting content, built trust with the group so that they were comfortable as I was filming almost 24/7, and used my free time to create videos from the previous day. Being public on social media is not for everyone and being recorded in every moment can feel bothersome, which is why trust was essential. Also, as this was a vulnerable retreat space, respect was key. In some clips, I would zoom in to cut off faces and film on angles to distort personal journal entries. It was a lot of fun taking on these challenges and what I've learnt is so valuable.
This was the experience of a lifetime. I can recognise that my hard work and hustle through the digital marketing space helped me to get here, of which I am
so grateful. From a video design intern in Gothenburg to a freelance specialist on a catamaran in the middle of Santorini. I can't wait to see what comes next!
